Robert Blomfield's Edinburgh
Robert Blomfield is a recently discovered master of street photography whose work was mainly shot in the 60s whilst a former medical student and GP. He was taking photographs from an early age inspired by his own father. It is said that as a medical student studying at Edinburgh University he lived in a darkroom with a bed in it such was his love of photography. That said, he remained largely unknown until a major exhibition at the City Art Centre brought him to the attention of the wider public locally and globally. Like Vivian Maier in New York and Oscar Marzarolli in Glasgow he simply took pictures for the pleasure of it and as a result his images reveal a passion for the area and the subject. He said himself, “I did not need to set the stage, the stage was already set.”
The work is editioned and comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by his son Will. Two sizes are available 18 x 12’ and 45 x 30” (approx)

We ship to the UK and globally. Choice of frames available. We generally do not recommend shipping framed works overseas as cost of insurance and fragility generally makes it better to get framed in your own country. Whilst we pack securely shipping outwith the UK incurs risk and many couriers will simply not insure 'art works' so we offer an 'at your own risk' and insured delivery costs. Please enquire.
Sizes are approximate and often refer to the paper size.
